Finance/Budget Committee: Help develop annual budget. Explore collaborative partnerships and the Council’s longer term funding needs as a community based organization
Fund Development Committee: Assist with grant writing, fund drives, coordinating “friend” memberships or donations.
Nominating Committee: Help with board and committee recruitment
Public Relations/Media Committee: Help to promote council activities and literacy awareness, recruit tutors and learners, and publicize events and accomplishments
Program/Curriculum Committee: Develop assessment and intake tools, develop and maintain learning materials for tutor/student needs,
Program/Training Committee: Plan and schedule training workshops, adapt materials and choose trainers to meet specific needs.
Program/Pilot Project Committee: Locate sites for tutoring, identify target population for project, and provide project support and evaluation.
Annual Events: Choose and plan next event (i.e. National Family Literacy Day, Read Across America, Dr. Seuss’s Birthday) and explore possible collaborations such as Make a difference day in October.
Become a Trainer: Participate in 16 hours of training and become part of a corps of trainers for Marathon County. Trainers will conduct tutor training workshops 1-2 times a year.
Executive Board Member: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
Become a Tutor: Participate in training and work on a one-to-one basis with learners desiring to increase basic reading and math skills. Tutors and learners usually meeting 1-2 times per week at a time which is mutually convenient.
Marketing Committee: Setup and update website, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn. Promotion with Ads and Recognition.
Community Liaison: Promote collaboration and extend help with other projects.(a) Tutor Subject (b) Marketing & Promotion (c) Sit at desk – Public representative (d) Keep Statistics, monthly record hours, improvements, outcomes. (e) Contact Person – Update with notices students, tutors, board, etc.
Board Member: 3 year commitment to work with policy and council development and enhancement.
