CHIP Program 2024

 Hi, my name is Kohl! Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education with a minor in Health Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Concurrently, I am earning certifications in Food & Nutrition for Health & Wellness and Health Science Education. My career aspirations involve obtaining a teaching license and educating youth about the significance of maintaining good health. Through my internship at McLit, I hope to acquire valuable knowledge and insights from healthcare professionals and underserved populations within the community. This experience will enable me to assist them effectively, both in the present and the future. I anticipate developing a sense of community at McLit, which will provide support for my professional goals. I am thrilled about the opportunity to be a part of this organization. Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I enjoy cooking, spending time outdoors, and exploring my local community. 

Hello!  I’m Amber and I am a CHIP Intern here at McLit in Wausau.  I am originally from Manawa, WI, a rural town of 1,300 people.  I am currently studying Biomedical Sciences at Concordia University-WI, with a minor in Bioethics, and a certificate in Biology Research.  My goal is to attend medical school, and I am considering specializing in genetics, family medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, or dermatology.  At heart, I am a learner and that is why I am so passionate about medicine in general.  That is why I am thrilled to be spending my summer here at McLit.  I am looking to make a difference in the community by advocating for literacy for all and conducting research on healthcare access for those in need.  In my free time, I love to read, enjoy writing, and spend as much time as I can outdoors!

 Hello! My name is Ellie and I am thrilled to join McLit as a CHIP intern through the AMP (Advocates in Medicine Pathway) program this summer. I am from Whitehall, WI, a rural town with a population of approximately 1,600 people. I am graduating from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and Community Health Education. Currently, I am applying to medical school for the 2025 cycle and am passionate about rural health, and I am particularly interested in primary care. I am eager to explore the resources available in the Wausau community and am excited to learn how I can use my skills to support, advocate for, and enhance public health and literacy in the area. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, walking, and fishing.

  Hello! I'm Sujlan (pronounced Su-lin) Thao and I am excited to be working at the McLit Center this summer! Being part of the community and expanding my skills are just some of the things I look forward to. I am majoring in Biomedical Sciences at UW-Milwaukee with an interest in studying and testing for diseases. In my free time, I enjoy exploring different worlds through books and expressing myself through art.  

 Hi, I'm Connor Jeske and I study BioChemistry at UWSP. I am here at McLit through the AMP program to better understand general health and gain a better understanding on how the health system works. I plan on going into medical school where I will further learn skills that will allow me to become a radiologist or a primary care physician. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work at and learn more about McLit. Some of my interests include fishing and weight lifting, I love the outdoors.  

 Hello! My name is Megan Lecheitner and I am an intern here at the McLit of Wausau. I am completing my undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point majoring in

Biology/ Pre-med. I really enjoy being around kids, which is why I have decided to pursue my dreams of becoming a pediatrician in a rural community. With McLit being a very kind and welcoming place, I feel like I can help make a difference in the community, as I also love being involved as well as helping/supporting people. I am really looking forward into the experiences

and impact that I will make here and on the community.

 My name is Mario and I am a senior in college at UW-Madison. I have an interest in health and am currently applying for medical school for the fall of 2023. I am originally from Wausau and am interested in working in a rural area in the future. I enjoy playing tennis, bowling, learning new things, and being adventurous. I look forward to working in the community to help improve public health and literacy.
