July 2025: Summary Report

General Observations from Wisconsin Literacy

McLit is a proud member of Wisconsin Literacy, a coalition of state-wide, community-based literacy programs. It is an organization that seeks to improve literacy in Wisconsin and greatly values the importance of lifelong learning.

As a part of Wisconsin Literacy, we strive to uphold these values while being a unique literacy program for the community. As part of a regular report from a Wisconsin Literacy representative, McLit was evaluated in high regard.

Some highlighted observations made by the representative about McLit include remarks about McLit's confidence in satisfying grant requirements, showing improvement in focus areas from the previous year, flexibility in serving students in a wide-variety of subjects, effective coordination with other related non-profits, regular participation in administered training, and timely submission of financial documentation as well as other reports.

In the coming year, McLit will continue to do its best to maintain and expand its operations, making sure to effectively handle any situations that require corrective actions and refining existing programs to best meet the needs of our students.

Wheels to Work (W2W) Program

W2W is a program led by Watea, the Wisconsin Automotive & Truck Education Association, since 2010 to help low-income clients obtain or repair a vehicle in order to commute to work. The goal of this program is to provide access to reliable transportation for work-related travel. With the ability to easily commute, invidivuals are able to apply to more and higher paying jobs, meet the expectations for jobs that require a vehicle, and be a part of the community.

Qualifying applicants receive affordable, 0% interest loans with payment plants that fit their budget. Through this program, Watea has helped countless individuals overcome the transportation barrier and step towards their futures on the path to long-term success.

McLit is partnering with Watea in this project through our Financial Literacy program. In it, we will work closely with W2W applicants to refine their basic financial skills, organize a financial portfolio, and devise a realistic budget plan that is unique to each individual's needs.

About Candid's platinum level

Every year, millions of nonprofits spend trillions of dollars around the world. Candid finds out where that money comes from, where it goes, and why it matters. Through research, collaboration, and training, Candid provides information on numerous non-profits.  Investors and donors can then view each profile.  The more transparent information a non-profit provides, the higher level they are approved and may obtain a seal.

McLit is now approved by Candid at the highest level!  Read about our statistics here or below...
